Andre Scheffler Thorsen Esq. age 59 passed away from complications of cancer, surrounded by loved ones. A graduate of the University of Toronto and Osgoode Law School he was a respected Parry Sound Barrister and Solicitor and an international expert on Rule of Law. Prior to settling in Parry Sound he had contributed to developing the justice systems of Afghanistan, Nunavut, Bosnia and more. He was appointed to the Ontario Civilian Police Commission as well as numerous UN and NATO expert’s rosters. His loss is keenly felt by his mother Barbara, brother Bart and his wife Jane, sister Isabel and her husband John, as well as his nieces Nicole, Samantha and Amanda and nephew Ryan, who were very dear to him. He leaves his best friend Dr. Edward ”Sonny” Keatings and innumerable other friends all over the world whose lives he impacted. Andre was a citizen of the world. As a hyperpolyglot and sesquipedalian, he was a member of Mensa. An international man of mystery, he had lived and served with the British Armed Forces and as a civilian on six continents, but fell in love with Georgian Bay. With his eidetic memory he could always be counted on to correct people on song lyrics, jingles or quotes from TV and movies.
