The strongest man I ever knew
My heart is hurting
I love my dad
But everyday
He seems more sad
A burden he feels
That’s not so
I am here for him
But he wants to go
Strong and mighty
He once was
Cancers grip
He can not run
Over and over
They took it away
But there it was
The very next day
He now can rest
It’s over he’s free
To let his spirit
Fly Above the trees
Home he is
Once again
Family passed
Here to take his hand
The gentle man
Has lost his fight
At piece he is
Gone into the light
I will miss him
Everyday of my life
Daddy’s little girl
Saying good bye
My love will stand
The test of time
Forever he’ll be
In my heart and mind
Love you always
My dad my friend
Until the future
We will meet again.

Dorothy “Dot” Elliott October 6, 1924 ~ January 10, 2018

Memorial Service - April 21, 2018 - 2:00 pm

To our sadness, Dot Elliott died in the early hours of January 10, 2018 shortly after being admitted to West Parry Sound Health Centre.  She was a dapper, sharp-minded ninety-three year old with a real knack for making friends.

Born Dorothy Taylor in Welland, Ontario, the third of four daughters. Dot was always happiest outdoors helping her father build or fix something. She continued this preference when she married Leslie Elliott in 1944.  She and Les made homes in Stevensville, Fonthill, Welland and Elliot Lake, eventually settling in a cottage they built themselves on Wahwashkesh Lake near Parry Sound.   They were the best of neighbours’ wherever they went, they were always ready to help or make music or have fun.

Dot took pride in the happiness of her long marriage to Les, who died in 2013, and in her two sons, Tom and Jack, Tom’s wife, Shirley and Jack’s life partner, Jill Frayne. Dot has three grown grandchildren, Lesley McDonald, married to Brad, Rod Elliott and Graig Elliott, as well as four great-grandchildren, Leah, Brayden, Paige and Nathan.

Dot was beloved sister to Nan, Alice and Eileen, all deceased and she was a cherished aunt and friend to many, many others.

A memorial celebrating Dot’s life will be held on April 21, 2018 at 2 PM, at Torrance Funeral Home, 89 Bowes Street, Parry Sound, followed by a second celebration and interment of her ashes June 9, 2018 at 1 PM at St John’s Anglican Church in Stevensville, Ontario.

If desired, donations to the Trinity Anglican church (Parry Sound) or the St John’s Anglican church (Stevensville) would be appreciated by the family.
