James Ereaux October 9, 1928 ~ October 19, 2017
Jim Ereaux died suddenly on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in his 90th year. Jim’s family meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diane, his four children Beth (Jim), Jane (Derek), John (Susan), Trish (Tim) and his six grandchildren, Kyle, Lee, Graham, Adrian, Taylor and Lindsay. He’s received a special welcome to heaven by his beloved granddaughter Carly. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate his time with us. Some significant times in Jim’s life included his military service in the Tank Corp in Korea, his vast career in retail in numerous Canadian cities, his huge devotion to golf (he played nine holes with Diane the day before his passing), extensive travels during his retirement years, and his love of Georgian Bay. He was fiercely loyal to family and friends.
Jim’s grandchildren adored their Grandpa Ereaux and have fond memories of their cribbage games together, boat rides on Georgian Bay, golf games, walks on local trails and discussions about political topics and books. He inspired his family to do the best they could in life and for that he will always be fondly remembered and loved.

Memorial Service - October 5, 2017 - 1:00 pm
Now that I am no longer on this planet please consider this – I have been lavishly blessed during my 71 years of life and I leave with no regrets.
“I have been blessed in many ways: by having been born in this country; in growing up in MacTier under the loving care of my parents Ben and Eileen, along with my brother Jim and sister Cathy Emes, and having the pleasure of knowing their spouses Dahna and Harold; in marrying my bride, Barbara – she has been the best for the 47 years that we were married. I have been gifted with two wonderful sons, Andrew and Scott, who married equally wonderful partners in Heather and Cindy. I’ve been a Grandpa and Wink to the best grandchildren in the world; Ben, Rory, Mack, and Colin. I’ve had the love, loyalty, & companionship of our dear friends and relatives, and in being a member of my church family here at St. James United Church; I’ve had the rewards of being a member of the teaching profession, and the care and professionalism of the medical people whom I have met over the past two years. I have had a great run and am truly thankful for this journey of life that I have enjoyed. Any memorial donation is your choice, but if you wish to do something for the planet and yourself please consider going for a walk, riding a bike, and taking the train.” – Wink
